D.C Trip Response -- Schloss

Todays experience in D.C was really great. Having gone to D.C on other trips this gave me an opportunity to look at the memorials in another light. Starting off with the Washington monument being able to lie down and put our feet up gave me a unique way interact with the monument. it is important to look at how people interact and how there emotions are expressed because part of viewing the memorials is seeing how other people are affected.

Another thing that really struck me was the size and spacial relationships to the memorials. not only are the memorials larger then life but from each memorial in the national mall and others you are able to see another memorial which I think changes the emotional response of the viewer.

Lastly the idea of reflection is really cool to me. As we see the reflection of ourself we also see the reflection of the surrounding memorial. reflections are all around us and i think change the emotion of how we see it, we see part of ourselves in the memorial. It allows the viewer to be connected to the memorial and the surroundings.

lastly the surrounding noises and views also effect how the memorial is perceived this can be both a negative and positive thing, as some sounds are from nature but others are man made events happening around the memorial.
