Me and my entire third grade class visited the Monument to the People's Heroes in Beijing as a part our patriotic education. What makes this visit which took place almost 10 years ago extremely powerful was that we had to travel pretty far to get to Beijing from our school. This enormous marble monument is situated in the center of the Tiananmen Square, which is in the center of Beijing. The scale and location of the monument makes it similar to the Washington Monument in DC. The actual visit of the monument was not that exciting compare to seeing the monument from a distance.
